Yuba Highlands is not in the floodplain. The cost of the 1986 and 1997 Yuba County floods in current dollars was in excess of $500 million dollars. The cost in loss of life and disruption of life is incalculable.

Yuba Highlands is south of the Yuba River with elevations on the property from 300 to 800 feet. There is no tree cover on 90% of the property. It combines the advantage of being above the flood plain without incursion into what is generally thought of as the “Foothills.”

More than $35 million dollars will be spent by Yuba Highlands on County roads and assistance to Wheatland for a Highway 65 bypass around Wheatland.

Yuba Highlands will provide land for as many as three elementary schools and one middle school. Annual taxes at completion will provide Wheatland Elementary School District with $5.5 million, Wheatland High School District with $4.2 million and
Yuba Community College with $3.7 million.

The provison at Yuba Highlands for a fire station and a police substation will improve fire protection and police service response in areas of the foothills which now have long response times.
